The Mexico Public Library is looking for a Library Assistant to work approximately
12-15 hours per week, including Wednesday evenings, and Saturday mornings.
This assistant will be responsible for staffing the circulation desk, helping patrons find materialsand use public computers,
shelving items, answering phones and clerical work includingphotocopying, scanning and faxing as needed.
Candidate may be asked to substitute for sickness or vacations if needed and
be flexible to the needs of the library.
The position will also help with marketing (posting to social media and website, making flyers and helping with e-newsletter creation). Creativity and knowledge of technology or willingness
to learn new technologies is vital.
The Library Assistant will also help with
programming which will include prepping program materials and assisting at events.
Candidates must demonstrate computer proficiency, provide excellent customer service
and be adept at working with a wide variety of patrons and skills,
enjoy creative projects, and work well in a team setting.
High School Diploma or GED required; two-year degree preferred.
Library or office experience preferred. Candidate must be 21 or older.
